Poker Open V Live Heat 3
New forum member Gr1msby was unlucky to be first out. In a race with his AK and having suffered a chip drain, he just couldn’t make it count when he needed it.
Pro Nathan Lee was next to go, but Finish Qualifier Ville Hiltunen is dominating the table and has Neil Channing on the back foot. If the Iceman can keep his cool,we could have another qualifier in a semi.
The bookman, Mr Channing is back to writing the odds as he thought his pocket jacks were good, but not knowing he had run straight into KK.
3 handed now and on the bubble
8.15pm and there are still 3 players battling for the honours.
The chips have moved around the table and short stack dennis Taylor has now piled up the chips after winning 2 races against then chip leader Ville Hiltunen.
Another race with the remaining of Ville’s chips and Taylor wins again.
Ville was sitting pretty not so long ago but now he is on his way back to Finland empty handed.
It’s a real shame for this young man, he played some brilliant poker all day and maybe just lost some concentration towards the end.
Taylor, used to playing 35 frames of snooker finals looks fresher than when he started and may very well go onto win this heat. He certainly now has the ammunition to do so.
The bones are aching here after many hours in the green room and we will soon be off to the hotel for some liquid refreshments. It’s been a long day but we still have the heads up to play and with Taylor grinding away, nobody can predict how long this is going to take.
Ville must be disappointed, but this young Finn is a talented prospect and I’m sure we will be seeing him in the future.
Ville returns to the green room to the condolences of the watching staff and into the arms of his beautiful girlfriend who has been watching his every move. He sits and discusses some of his hands and seems surprisingly chirpy considering.
Then I take another look at the young Finnish girl sitting at his side and it suddenly hits me, there are more important things than poker.
The heads up battle between Pro Gez Bailey and Dennis Taylor was an intense affair with Taylor always behind, he made a galliant effort but he could ot pull off similar heroics as he did in 1985 against Steve Davies.
So it’s off to the turbo game for Dennis and into the semi finals for Gez.
More action from heats 4 and 5 tomorrow together with reports from the tonights jaunts arround the hotel bar.
